Maruti Suzuki To Launch 3 Hybrid Cars, 1 Electric SUV In 2023-24

Maruti Suzuki is getting aggressive with its product strategy for the Indian market. After introducing the Grand Vitara Strong Hybrid, MSIL is now planning to introduce 3 more hybrid vehicles in the country in the next 1 year. Moreover, the company is also ready to enter the electric vehicle category with an all-new e-SUV.

Maruti Suzuki will unveil its most expensive model, the Invicto premium MPV in the Indian market on July 5. The new MPV will be based on the outgoing Toyota Innova Hycross. The new MPV will receive design changes in-line with the new Grand Vitara. It will come with Grand Vitara-like front fascia and the updated tail-lights, while the rest of the model will look identical to the Innova Hycross. The cabin won’t receive any changes, except for the new interior color scheme. It will be the first Maruti Suzuki to be offered with an ADAS tech. To be sold through NEXA premium dealerships, the new Invicto is expected to be priced between Rs 19 lakh and 30 lakh. The MPV will be offered with two engine options – a 173bhp, 2.0L NA petrol and a 183.72bhp, 2.0L petrol with a strong hybrid tech.

Maruti Suzuki is also working on the next gen Swift and Dzire sub-4 meter sedan, which will be launched sometime in early next year. The new models will be based on the stronger HEARTECT platform that underpins the new Baleno and the Fronx crossover. The new models will come with several design changes and better quality interior with more features. Big changes will be made under the hood. Both vehicles are reportedly to be powered by a new 1.2L petrol engine with a strong hybrid tech. MSIL is likely to source the hybrid tech from its strategic partner, Toyota. The new vehicles are likely to return over 35kmpl of mileage.

Maruti Suzuki will finally enter the electric vehicle space by introducing the production version of the eVX electric SUV concept in late 2024. The company had showcased the eVX concept at the Auto Expo 2023. The new model will rival the likes of the Mahindra XUV400, MG ZS EV and the upcoming HYundai Creta EV. The new model is likely to get a 60kWh battery pack with LFP blade cells. The new EVX electric SUV will be designed and developed on the born-EV platform. At the time of unveiling, Maruti Suzuki reveals that the new EV will have a range of 550km on a single charge.
