Hero MotoCorp to Enter the Premium Bike Segment: 4 New Models

Hero MotoCorp has set its sights high on achieving a significant market share in the coming years. The home-grown two-wheeler manufacturer plans to venture into the premium bike and electric vehicle (EV) segments. According to a recent media report, the company is working on four new premium motorcycles that will fall into two categories – Core Premium and Upper Premium.

The Core Premium bikes are likely to include a fully-faired Karizma XMR and a naked streetfighter. On the other hand, the Upper Premium models could consist of the soon-to-be-launched Harley-Davidson X440 and a streetfighter. These bikes will have a displacement ranging between 200cc and 400cc. Furthermore, the company plans to sell its upcoming Hero premium bikes through a separate retail channel, with a goal of establishing over 100 dealerships by next year.

The iconic Hero Karizma nameplate is set to make a comeback in the country. This time, the bike will be introduced with an all-new liquid-cooled 210cc engine that is expected to deliver 25PS of power and 20Nm of torque. The model will be known as the Hero Karizma XMR 210. The bike will feature LED illumination (headlight, DRLs, indicators), a raised fuel tank, high-set clip-on handlebars, a split seat, conventional telescopic front forks, a monoshock rear suspension, and front and rear disc brakes with ABS (anti-lock braking system).

The Harley-Davidson X440, a made-in-India bike, is scheduled to go on sale on July 3, 2023. The motorcycle is powered by a 440cc, single-cylinder, air/oil-cooled engine. The official power and torque figures have not been revealed yet, but it is expected to be more powerful and torquey than the Royal Enfield Classic 350, which delivers 20bhp and 27Nm. The X440 features a single downtube frame, a USD fork, and twin shock absorbers. It is equipped with 18/17-inch wheels fitted with MRF tyres.
