Maruti Suzuki is getting aggressive with its product strategy for the Indian market. The company has already launched the new Baleno, new Brezza, new Alto K10 and the new Celerio in the country this year. Adding to it, MSIL will soon announce the prices of the new Grand Vitara SUV. A new range of SUVs including a Baleno based crossover and the 5-door Jimny will also be launched in our market in 2023.
The company aims to regain its lost market share, which is dropped to 40 per cent from over 50 per cent. The latest SUV offerings, the Brezza and the Grand Vitara, have received an overwhelming response from buyers. These two SUVs have garnered an estimated Rs 25,000 crore worth of outstanding bookings for the company.
Not just SUVs, Maruti Suzuki’s 3-row UVs including the Ertiga and the XL6 have also received positive response from buyers. These two models account for close to 1 lakh outstanding bookings for the company. On the other hand, MSIL has received over 1.4 lakh bookings for the new Brezza and the Grand Vitara. The company garnered an estimated Rs 35,000 crore of total order book for utility vehicles.
Maruti Suzuki has already delivered about 45,000 units of the Brezza, while deliveries are yet to begin for the Grand Vitara. MSIL will announce the prices and deliveries for the new Grand Vitara during Navratari period, starting from September 26, 2022. It is also reported that most of the bookings are for higher variants, which translates into higher average price per vehicle & higher margins. MSIL believes that the strong demand for the new models is expected to double its annual SUV sales to about 3 lakh units.
Speaking to ET Auto, Shashank Srivastava, Maruti Suzuki’s senior executive director sales & marketing, said, “the company introduced new SUVs in the market as consumer demand was increasing for such vehicles, and that it would launch more models in the space in the near future.”
