Maruti Suzuki had showcased the 5-door Jimny lifestyle SUV at the 2023 Auto Expo. The off-roader can be booked online or at authorised NEXA dealerships by paying a token amount of Rs 25,000. It is expected to be launched in the Q2, 2023, most probably by May. It will be available in two variants – Zeta and Alpha – in manual and automatic avatar.

The new Jimny will be powered by a 1.5-litre K15B petrol engine with an idle start/stop system. This engine produces 103bhp and 134.2Nm of torque. Transmission choices will include a 5-speed manual & a 4-speed torque convertor automatic. Also See – Maruti Suzuki Jimny Vs Mahindra Thar
In terms of proportions, the Jimny is 3985mm long, 1645mm wide and 1720mm tall, and has a wheelbase of 2590mm. The 5-door model offers a boot space of 208-litres, which can be extended by folding down the rear seats.
3. Off-road credentials
The new SUV has an approach angle of 36°, a departure angle of 50°, and a break-over angle of 24°. It is based on a ladder-on-frame chassis. It has a ground clearance of 210mm, which is more than the Force Gurkha.
4. Suzuki AllGrip Pro AWD setup
This SUV comes fitted with Suzuki’s AllGrip Pro AWD setup, which is the most capable version of Suzuki’s AllGrip tech. It comes with a low-ratio gear that multiplies engine torque and limits speeds, and improves the off-road driving. Driver can switch between two-wheel-drive high (2H) and four-wheel-drive high (4H) for off-road conditions. For extreme off-road conditions, the SUV will have four-wheel-drive low (4L).
5. 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system
The new model comes fitted with modern features like a 9-inch SmartPlay Pro+ touchscreen infotainment unit with wireless Android Auto & Apple CarPlay, a semi-digital instrument console, multi-functional steering wheel, etc.
6. LED headlamps with washer
This system has an electrically driven rotary pump that sprays water onto headlight glass from the outside. This makes driving safer during rain, snow and muddy road conditions.

The new Jimny is the brand’s only model in its line-up to be based on the ladder-on-frame chassis. This chassis allows Suzuki to develop an off-roader with ample off-roading credentials. Moreover, the SUV has 3-link rigid axle suspension with coil spring.
