Hyundai Motor India is getting ready to roll out the Exter micro SUV in early July 2023. Besides this, the South Korean automaker has started testing the heavily updated i20 hatchback in the country. The test mule was heavily camouflaged covering its design changes, but one can see its newly-designed alloy wheels and taillamps. Just so you know, the new 2023 Hyundai i20 facelift was recently previewed via official images for the European market. The India-spec version is likely to share some of its design elements from the European model.
The hatchback’s updated version might come with revised front and rear bumpers, new headlamp clusters with slightly repositioned LED DRLs and a grille with arrow-shaped inlets. The taillamps could be revised with the Z-shaped LED inserts. Similar to the global model, the India-spec i20 might get new colour schemes.
Interior details of the new 2023 Hyundai i20 facelift are not available. Though, it’s expected to get a new theme and new upholstery. Similar to the Exter, the hatchback might get dashcam along with the ambient lighting system, ventilated front seats, and the standard 6 airbags. Features such as auto climate control, a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone connectivity, connected car tech, wireless phone charging and cruise control will be carried forward from the existing one.
Engine setup is likely to remain intact. The new 2023 Hyundai i20 facelift will continue to offer 1.2L naturally aspirated and 1.0L turbo petrol engines, making 83PS with 114Nm and 120PS with 172Nm respectively. Transmissions will also be carried forward from the pre-facelift model – i.e. a 5-speed annual, a CVT automatic and a 7-speed DCT automatic.
The carmaker hasn’t yet revealed its launch timeline. Though, the media reports suggest that the updated version will arrive by 2023 festive season. It’s likely to witness a minor price hike. Currently, the i20 model lineup comes with the price range of Rs 7.46 lakh – Rs 11.88 lakh (ex-showroom).
