Fronx is another compact SUV from Maruti Suzuki that has been recently added to its lineup. It was one of the biggest unveilings at the 2023 Auto Expo. Positioned alongside the Brezza, it could be a bit confusing for buyers to choose one between the two. So here we’ve compared both these offerings from Maruti Suzuki to tell you how they differ from each other.
Design, Dimensions and Platform
- The Maruti Suzuki Brezza has a more conventional boxy design with a straight roof giving it a tough and bold appearance, whereas the Fronx has a more coupe-like silhouette, following a curvaceous design philosophy.
- Essentially, it combines the design cues of the Baleno and Grand Vitara into a subcompact crossover packaging, making it look more premium and modern than the Brezza.
- Based on the Baleno, the Fronx is built on Suzuki’s Heartect platform. On the other hand, the Brezza is based on the TECT platform (Global C platform) that also underpins the flagship Grand Vitara.
- Speaking of the size, both utility vehicles fall into the sub-4m category. However, the Brezza is wider and taller than the Fronx, but the latter has a longer wheelbase. Here’s a clearer picture: –
Brezza | Fronx | |
Length | 3995mm | 3995mm |
Width | 1790mm | 1765mm |
Height | 1685mm | 1550mm |
Wheelbase | 2500mm | 2520mm |
Ground Clearance | 198mm | 190mm |
Boot Space | 328L | 308L |
Interior and Features
- There are many similarities between these two compact SUVs when it comes to their interior parts. Having said that, both receive the same 9.0-inch SmartPlay Pro+ infotainment system, as well as the same toggle switches, and controls for the HVAC and heads-up display (HUD). They also share the same IRVM unit and the flat-bottom steering wheel.
- What differentiates the Brezza and Fronx is essentially their dashboard layout. While the Brezza sports a flattish dashboard dressed in a black and brown theme, the Fronx has a more curved design with a black and burgundy finish.
- When it comes to features, both the SUVs are almost equally loaded. Both get automatic LED projector headlamps, a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, ARKAMYS sound system, auto AC, rear AC vents, wireless smartphone charger, a heads-up display, cruise control, electronic stability program (ESP), rear parking sensors, a 360-degree camera and up to 6 airbags. The Brezza, however, also features a single-pane electric sunroof and ambient lighting, which are absent on the Fronx.
Engine Options
Maruti offers the Brezza with a sole 1.5-litre DualJet DualVVT petrol engine, whereas the Fronx gets two petrol engine options: 1.2-litre naturally aspirated and 1.0-litre turbocharged. Here’s a look at their specifications: –
