Maruti Suzuki has some really big plans for the Indian market. The automaker recently launched the all-new Brezza with significant upgrades and it’s now gearing up to bring in the Vitara mid-size SUV. The latter will debut on 20th July, followed its market launch near around 2022 festive season. With an aim to strengthen its SUV market, the company has planned a range of new models that will arrive in coming years.
Speaking to an online media publication, Shashank Srivastava, Senior Director Marketing & Sales, Maruti Suzuki has revealed the company received positive feedback for its Jimny SUV. Just so you know, the model made its debut in its 3-door avatar at the 2022 Auto Expo. Here, the carmaker will bring in its 5-door version. At present, Maruti Suzuki is looking at the Jimny’s possible pricing, specs and launch timeline.
If reports are to be believed, the Maruti Jimny 5-door version could be offered with a 1.5L petrol engine and AWD (all-wheel drive) system. The power unit might be boosted with mild hybrid technology in order to improve its fuel efficiency. The SUV’s 5-door variant will have low range transfer gear and 3-link rigid axle suspension. Transmission choices will include manual and automatic unit. Though, the carmaker might tune its mechanism to meet market specific requirements. Maruti Suzuki’s Gurugram based facility will serve as a manufacturing hub for the 5-door Jimny SUV for the domestic as well as export markets. Its production will start in early 2023. The company aims to sell over 6,000 units on monthly basis and over 75,000 units in the first year of its launch. The Maruti Jimny SUV is reported to debut at the 2023 Auto Expo in January. It could be offered in 5 and 7-seats configurations.
