Maruti and Hyundai Lead Sales Chart In March 2021

Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai Motor India continue to lead the sales chart in the month of March 2021. The Indo-Japanese carmaker sold a total of 1,46,203 units against 76,240 units of the same month previous year, registering 91.8% growth. Hyundai managed to sell 52,600 units opposed to 26,300 units of March 2020. It recorded 100% sales growth. In fact, the top 10 selling cars of the month are only from Maruti Suzuki (7) and Hyundai (3).

With total sales of 21714 units, the Maruti Swift emerged as the top-selling car of the last month. The carmaker introduced the updated Swift with a new, more fuel efficient 89bhp, 1.2L Dualjet petrol engine. The hatchback also received minor cosmetic and feature upgrades. The new model lineup is available in 9 variants priced from Rs 5.73 lakh to Rs 8.41 lakh (ex-showroom). The Maruti Baleno and WagonR hatchbacks stood at number second and third with sales of 21217 units and 18757 units respectively.

2020 Hyundai Creta New Prices

The Maruti Suzuki Alto slipped to fourth position in March 2021. The hatchback recorded total sales of 17401 units compared to 10829 units of the same month last year. Registering total sales of 12640 units, the Hyundai Creta became India’s top-selling SUV and fifth highest selling car. The sixth and seventh spots were grabbed by Maruti Suzuki Eeco van and Dzire compact sedan respectivey. The carmaker dispatched 11547 units of Eeco and 11434 units of Dzire last month.

Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza became the top selling sub-4 meter SUV in the county. A total of 11274 units of the compact SUV were sold last month. The Hyundai i10 Grand hatchback and Venue subcompact SUV managed to make to number 9 and 10 with total sales of 11020 units and 10722 units respectively.

In other updates, Hyundai is ready to introduce the all-new Alcazar 67-seater SUV to challenge Mahindra XUV500, MG Hector Plus and Tata Safari. Maruti Suzuki, on the other hand, is preparing to bring in the new-generation Celerio in coming months.
