Maruti Grand Vitara Hybrid – New Safety Feature, Prices Revised

Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara now offers strong hybrid variants equipped with the AVAS (Acoustic Vehicle Alerting System), a pedestrian safety alarm system. The AVAS emits a low-level alert sound to warn pedestrians or nearby drivers within a range of up to 5 feet. With this addition, the SUV now complies with the Automotive Industry Standard (AIS) 173, which applies to electrified, hybrid electric, and fuel cell hybrid vehicles featuring at least one electric motor or electric motor generator.

The inclusion of the AVAS pedestrian safety technology has resulted in a price increase of Rs 4,000. With this added feature, the Maruti Grand Vitara strong hybrid Zeta+ variant is priced at Rs 18.29 lakh, while the Alpha+ variant costs Rs 19.79 lakh (all prices ex-showroom). No changes have been made to the non-hybrid variants of the SUV.

Maruti Grand Vitara Launch Date

Similar to other offerings in the Nexa lineup, the Grand Vitara is available in six trims: Sigma, Delta, Zeta, Alpha, Zeta+, and Alpha+. The first four trims are equipped with a 103bhp, 1.5L petrol mild hybrid engine, while the last two trims feature the 114bhp, 1.5L strong hybrid petrol powertrain. The strong hybrid variants claim to deliver a mileage of 27.97kmpl, while the petrol mild hybrid offers a fuel efficiency of 19.38kmpl, and the CNG version promises 26.6km/kg.

The top-end Alpha+ trim of the Grand Vitara boasts exclusive features such as a 360-degree camera, ventilated front seats, puddle lamps, an upgraded sound system, a leatherette steering wheel, a tyre pressure monitor, and black leatherette seats. The Zeta+ trim offers an all-black interior theme with gold accents, a 7.0-inch fully digital instrument cluster, ambient lighting on the dashboard, a Head-Up display, a wireless charger, a panoramic sunroof, silver roof rails, dark grey front and rear skid plates, and dual-tone color schemes.
