Maruti eVX Electric SUV Launch Pushed To Early 2025 – Here’s Why?

A fresh media report indicates a delay in the launch of Maruti Suzuki eVX, the first electric offering from the Indo-Japanese automaker. The eVX concept-based electric SUV, originally scheduled to hit showrooms during the 2024 festive season, faces challenges related to software and battery supply. These issues are currently being addressed, leading to a postponement of its start of production (SOP) by five months. Consequently, the Maruti eVX electric SUV is now anticipated to arrive in early 2025, possibly in February or March.

This delay will also affect its export to Japan and Europe, pushing it to the initial months of the following year. Maruti Suzuki plans to make India its export hub, with nearly 75-80 percent of production, amounting to nearly 1.5 lakh units annually. Both the eVX and its Toyota sibling will be manufactured at Suzuki Motor Gujarat’s (SMG) Hansalpur-based facility, which also produces Swift, Baleno, Dzire, and Fronx.

Similar to its concept, the production-ready Maruti eVX will measure around 4.3 meters in length and have a wheelbase of 2,700mm. It will feature an upright nose flanked by large headlamps, a flat bonnet, and a closed-off grille at the front. Rear door handles will be placed on the C-pillar. Other design elements include pronounced squarish wheel arches, muscular shoulder lines, a coupe SUV-like roofline, and connected LED taillights.

Inside, the new Maruti electric SUV will boast a dual-screen setup along with a floating center console featuring a rotary dial. It will also come equipped with a two-spoke steering wheel, a frameless rearview mirror, a 360-degree camera, and ADAS tech.

Suzuki EVX Interior

Regarding its underpinnings, the eVX will be built on an all-new platform derived from Toyota’s 40PL electric skateboard architecture. Official specifications are yet to be disclosed, but the model is expected to feature a 60kWh battery pack and an electric motor, offering a range of around 500km. The Maruti eVX will also come with an AWD (all-wheel-drive) setup.
