Maruti Engage MPV To Share Design Bits With Grand Vitara

Maruti Suzuki has planned two utility vehicles (UV) for the coming months – the 5-door Jimny lifestyle off-road SUV and the Engage premium three-row MPV. While the former is set to go on sale on 7th June, the latter will arrive by July 2023. Save for the prices, we have all key details of the Maruti Jimny. The Maruti Engage will essentially be the re-badged Toyota Innova Hycross with minor design changes. A recently leaked image reveals that the MPV’s front grille will be similar to the Grand Vitara SUV. The unit has hexagonal-mesh patterned grille with chrome surrounds and black finish.

The new Maruti MPV is likely to feature the brand’s signature headlamps with split setup and three-pod LED DRLs. The same setup we have seen in the Grand Vitara. A few more cosmetic changes are expected to be made. Its dimensions, however, will remain the same. Similar to the Innova Hycross, Maruti Suzuki’s three-row MPV will measure 4755mm in length, 1845mm-1850mm in width and 1785mm-1795mm in height with a wheelbase of 2850mm.

Interior layout and features of the new Maruti Engage MPV will be exactly similar to the Toyota Innova Hycross. Though, it will have Maruti Suzuki’s logo on the steering wheel. The Engage will be the brand’s first model to come with the ADAS tech offering features such as adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, lane keep assist, lane departure alert, rear cross traffic alert and high beam assist. It will also offer 6 airbags, traction control, ABS with EBD and electronic stability program as standard safety fitments. Read – How Much Toyota Innova Hycross For Maruti Suzuki?

No changes will be made to its platform and powertrain. The Maruti Engage MPV will underpin Toyota’s TNGA-C platform and use the 184bhp, 2.0L Atkinson cycle with an e-Drive transmission and 172bhp, 2.0L petrol engine with a CVT automatic gearbox. Both motors will be available with the FWD (front-wheel drive) system. Its mileage figures might also be similar to the Toyota Innova Hycross that offers 23.24kmpl with strong hybrid powertrain and 16.13kmpl with non-hybrid unit.
