Maruti Suzuki has confirmed its plan for 2023 Auto Expo that includes two all-new SUVs, a new SUV EV concept, WagonR Flex-Fuel Prototype and customized versions of its existing models. The new Maruti Coupe SUV (codenamed YTB), which will be based on the Baleno hatchback, will be the first major launch from the Indo-Japanese carmaker in 2023. A latest media report states that prices of the Maruti YTB could be announced at the mega automotive event.
Similar to Maruti Suzuki’s new breed cars, the Maruti YTB will be built on the lightweight Heartect platform. Its design and styling will have mix of the Grand Vitara, new Brezza and Baleno hatchback. At the front end, the model is likely to feature a sharply designed nose with wider grille and chrome strips as we have seen in the new Grand Vitara. It will come with a split headlamp setup with slim LED DRLs and the 3-block NEXA signature, pronounced wheel arches, black side cladding, a coupe-like roofline and raised suspension.
Feature details of the new Maruti Coupe SUV are still under the wraps. Though, we expect to offer interior layout similar to the Baleno hatch. It could get a new 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system supporting wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity and voice commands, a digital console, multi-functional steering wheel, automatic AC unit, rear AC vents, multiple airbags and more.
Reports suggest that the new Maruti YTB SUV will come with the 1.0L, 3-cylinder Boosterjet turbocharged petrol engine. It’s the same motor that powered the Baleno RS. Now, the turbo-petrol unit will be calibrated to meet the new BS6 emission norms. The carmaker might also boosted the engine with mild hybrid technology. Its power and torque outputs will be around 100bhp and 150Nm respectively. The lower trims could be made available with slightly less powerful 1.2L Dualjet petrol engine that makes 89bhp. Both manual and AMT gearboxes will be on offer.
