Maruti C-MPV Based On Innova Hycross To Launch By Mid-2023

The much-awaited new Toyota Innova Hycross will make India debut on November 25, 2022, while its launch will take place in January 2023. Similar to the Grand Vitara & Hyryder, Maruti Suzuki will also launch its own version of the new Innova Hycross. The new C-MPV will be launched six months after the new Hycross, which means a possible launch in mid-2023 around festive season, Diwali.

The new Maruti C-MPV will come with some design changes, mostly in the front and rear profile to keep thing fresh. The MPV is likely to get an all-new front fascia with a uniquely styled grille, new headlamp setup and new bumper design. At the back, the MPV could receive a significantly revised tailgate with new tail-lamp housing. The MPV is also likely to get differently styled alloy wheels.

Not many changes are likely to be made inside the cabin. The company could change the interior colour scheme and upholstery for seats. The new MPV is likely to share most of the features with the recently launched Grand Vitara. The new Maruti C-MPV will be designed and developed on TNGA-C platform that underpins the Innova Hycross. This platform currently underpins the Corolla Cross SUV on sale in select international markets.

The new platform will be a front-wheel-drive, monocoque platform, and will offer a wheelbase of 2,850mm. Compared to the Crysta, the new Innova Hycross will have 100mm longer wheelbase. The larger wheelbase will allow Toyota engineers to create more space inside the cabin. Multiple teasers and spy images confirm that the new Hycross will have a factory-fitted electric sunroof, a 360 degree camera, a larger touchscreen infotainment unit, an ‘ottoman function’ for the captain’s chairs in the second row, etc. The MPV is also likely to get Toyota Safety Sense (TSS) with features like automatic emergency brakes, lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control, pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, road sign assist, dynamic radar cruise control and automatic high beam.

The new Maruti C-MPV will share the engine options with the Innova Hycross. It will be offered with two engine options – a 2.0L petrol and a 2.0L petrol with a strong hybrid tech. It could get the heavily localized version of the THS II (Toyota Hybrid System), which has a twin-motor layout that enhance its high ‘step-off’ torque and fuel efficiency. The new Maruti C-MPV will be sold exclusively through NEXA premium dealership network.
