Mahindra’s new generation models including XUV700, Thar and the XUV300 have received excellent response from car buyers. Despite huge demand, Mahindra is unable to meet the rising demand. This is due to production constraints because of global shortage of semi-conductor chips. With rising demand, these models command a huge waiting period of over 1 year.
Mahindra XUV700 – Waiting Period Up to 19 Months
The XUV700 has been receiving an overwhelming response from buyers since its launch in October 2021. The SUV received over 65000 bookings within 2 days. The SUV currently commands a waiting period of close to 19 months, so few customers will have to wait till second half of 2023 to get their cars delivered.
The top-spec AX7L variant currently commands a waiting period of around 18-19 months, while the AX5 and the AX7 variants come with waiting period of around 13 months and 15 months respectively. The base variants come with waiting period of around 10-12 months.
The new Mahindra XUV700 is offered with two engine options – a 2.2-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged diesel and a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder turbo petrol. The petrol engine produces 200bhp and 380Nm of torque, while the diesel engine offers two states of tunes – 155bhp/360Nm for MX trim and 185bhp/420Nm (450NM with AT) with AdrenoX AX trim. Transmission choices include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic.
Mahindra Thar – Waiting Period Up to 1 Year
The lifestyle SUV has received over 75,000 bookings within 1 year of its launch. The new generation model is based on the ladder-on-frame chassis, which will also underpin the new Scorpio. Due to chip shortage and limited production, Mahindra is unable to meet the demand.
Its engine setup includes a 152bhp, 2.0L turbo petrol and 132bhp, 2.2L diesel. Both engines can be had either with a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox.
