Seeing the growing demand for SUVs, automakers are planning to introduce a wide range of new SUV or MPV models in the Indian market in the next couple of years. Maruti Suzuki is aiming to capture significant market share by introducing around 4-5 new SUVs in the next 2 years. Moreover, Mahindra will also launch multiple new SUVs over the period of next 2-3 years.

– Maruti Suzuki will launch the new Brezza with significant design changes and completely revised interiors by mid-2022. The new model will receive several high-end features like an electric sunroof, cruise control, paddle shifters, wireless charging, sim-based connectivity suite, 6 airbags and many more.
– Maruti Suzuki will also launch a compact SUV Coupe, which will be positioned above the Brezza. It is likely to be the production spec Futuro-e and will rival the higher variants of Hyundai Venue and Kia Sonet. Adding to it, the Maruti Suzuki is also preparing a 5-door Jimny for the Indian market. Maruti Suzuki and Toyota JV is also preparing a new mid-sized SUV to rival the likes of the Hyundai Creta and the Kia Seltos. All these models will cost under Rs 20 lakh.
– Mahindra will launch the new generation Scorpio by mid-2022. It will be based on the ladder-on-frame that underpins the new Thar. It will grow in size and will offer several modern features. The SUV will be powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol and a 2.2-litre turbocharged diesel engine. Not just new Scorpio, Mahindra will also launch the electric version of the XUV300 in 2023. Likely to be called the Mahindra XUV400, the new model will rival the Tata Nexon EV and the upcoming MG Electric Crossover.
– Kia will launch the Carens 3-row MPV by March 2022. It will rival the likes of the Suzuki XL6, Mahindra Marazzo, Hyundai Alcazar and the entry-level variants of the Toyota Innova Crysta. The SUV will share the engine options with the Seltos SUV.
– Jeep will enter into the subcompact SUV segment with an all-new model based on the new CMP platform that also underpins the soon-to-be-launched Citroen C3. On the other hand, Honda is also preparing a new mid-sized based on the City platform. Likely to be launched before the end of 2023, the new Honda SUV will rival the Hyundai Creta and the Kia Seltos. It is likely to be offered with 1.5L petrol engine along with a hybrid powertrain.
– MG Motor has also announced to launch an all-new electric crossover before the end of March 2023. It will be based on the global platform and will cost between Rs 10 lakh and Rs 15 lakh. The new crossover will rival the Tata Nexon EV.
