The new model will replace the existing XUV500, which is expected to be re-launched as a 5-seater model based on the new XUV700.

Mahindra has also created a web page for the new XUV700, where prospective customers can register for official updates. The new model is expected to be priced around Rs 14 lakh to Rs 22 lakh.

The new Mahindra XUV700 will be offered with two engine options – a 2.2-litre 4-cylinder mHawk diesel and a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder mFalcon, turbo-petrol. The new Mahindra XUV700 will be based on the new modular platform, which is expected to be stiffer and stronger than the previous platform. The SUV will have a longer wheelbase than the XUV500. Adding to it, the SUV will have wider and longer body to create more space inside the cabin.

The new XUV700 will be equipped with several segment-leading features. Inside the cabin, the SUV will get a dual-screen layout similar to the one offered in the Mercedes models. The one screen for the infotainment and the other one for the instrument console. Other features will include smartphone connectivity, connected car tech, automatic AC, an electronic parking brake, hill hold, and a panoramic sunroof.

The new model will be offered in 6-and 7-seat layout. While the six-seater will get captain seats in the middle row, the 7-seater will have a bench-style seat in the middle row. For safety and security, the new Mahindra XUV700 will get Level 2 Autonomous Driving Assist Systems (ADAS). ADAS features will include adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot detection and others.
