Mahindra XUV700 Diesel Is 5-Star Global NCAP Ready; More Details

Mahindra has recently announced the prices of the XUV700 mid-sized SUV. The SUV has received an overwhelming response from buyers, as it recorded a massive 50,000 bookings in less than 2 days. The SUV was launched at an introductory price tag of Rs 11.99 lakh, which goes up to Rs 22.89 lakh. The prices have been increased by up to Rs 50,000, as the introductory prices were applicable on first 25,000 bookings.

A new media report claims that the diesel variant of the Mahindra XUV700 is 5-star Global NCAP ready. However, the petrol variant is likely to be a “borderline case”. The company will send the diesel variant to GNCAP. Mahindra is reportedly to be working on making the petrol variant 5-star GNCAP ready as well.

Deliveries for the new Mahindra XUV700 are expected to begin between October 31 and November 6, 2021. Mahindra is aiming to deliver 10,000 units before the end of this year and 25,000 units before the end of February 2022.

The report further claims that the Red Rage colour variant will be readily available, followed by Dazzling Silver. The waiting period for the Midnight Black colour option is the highest. The AX3 and AX5 petrol automatic variants of the Mahindra XUV700 in Red Rage will be delivered with limited waiting period.

Mahindra XUV700 Interior

Mahindra’s Chakan plant currently has a huge inventory of XUV700s awaiting final Android Auto and Apple CarPlay certification. The 360 degree camera conversion kit is likely to be offered at the dealer level. This addition will require a few modifications including replacing the front logo and both ORVMs (Outside Rear View Mirrors). Adding to it, a couple of wiring harnesses will also be installed.

The Mahindra XUV700 is available in 5-and 7-seat layouts. The 5-seater model is positioned against the likes of the Tata Harrier, MG Hector and the higher variants of the Hyundai Creta and the Kia Seltos. The 7-seater model is positioned against the Tata Safari, MG Hector Plus and the Hyundai Alcazar. The SUV is available with two engine options – a 2.0L 4-cylinder, mStallion turbocharged petrol and a 2.2L 4-cylinder mHawk turbocharged diesel. The petrol engine is capable of producing 200bhp and 380Nm of torque. The diesel engine offers two states of tunes – 155bhp/360Nm with MX version and 185bhp/420Nm (450Nm with AT) with AdrenoX AX trim. Transmission choices include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic.
