Mahindra & Mahindra is all set to launch the all-new XUV400 electric SUV in the country. Its media test drives have already been commenced and booking amount and prices are likely to be revealed in the coming weeks. The Mahindra XUV400 will initially be made available in16 cities. As per leaked documents, the electric SUV will come in three variants – Base, EP and EL – packed with a 39.5kWh battery pack using state-of-the-art Li-ion cells. Its power and torque figures stand at 148bhp and 310Nm respectively.
The carmaker claims that the XUV400 is the fastest accelerating vehicle in its segment. It can achieve 0 to 100kmph in 8.3 seconds and have an electronic speed limit of 150kmph. The SUV promises a range of 456km on a full charge that makes it the longest-range EV in its category. Here, it will be positioned against the Tata Nexon EV Max that offers a claimed range of 437km in a single charge. Tata’s electric SUV comes with a 40.5kWh battery and an electric motor delivering 143bhp and 250Nm.
The new Mahindra XUV400 electric SUV will have three drive modes – Fun, Fast and Fearless. There will also be the segment-first single pedal ‘Lively mode’. Dimensionally, the model measures 4200mm in length and 1821mm in width and has a wheelbase of 2600mm. Mahindra’s new electric SUV will come with three charging options – a 3.3kW/16A home charger, a 7.2kW/32A and a DC fast charger. Its battery pack takes 13 hours to get charge from 0 to 80 percent via a standard home charger. By using a DC fast charger, one can charge it in just 50 minutes. The 7.2kW charger can fully juice up its battery pack in 6 hours 30 minutes.
