  • The Mahindra XUV300 comes with two petrol and one diesel engine, all offering class-leading outputs on paper and they honestly reword to an outstanding on-road performance too.
  • Starting with the MPFI turbo-petrol unit, it offers smooth power delivery, and the twisting force is available at low revs too. However, you’ll adore the way it performs at highway speeds and love pushing it hard. On the other hand, its new TGDI iteration, which gets a new turbocharger and a high-pressure direct injection tech, makes the XUV300 the most powerful compact SUV in the country.
  • Borrowed from the Marazzo, the diesel engine is livelier to drive; however, the diesel clatter and vibrations can annoy you a bit.
  • All the engine options get a 6-speed manual transmission as standard, whereas the MPFI petrol and diesel units can also be had with an optional Automatic Manual Transmission (AMT) that further offsets the aggravation of dealing with slow-moving city traffic. The shifts are almost jerk-free, and the creep function further adds convenience.

Dimensions

The Mahindra XUV300 is 3995mm long, 1821mm wide (widest in its class), 1627mm tall and has the segment’s largest wheelbase of 2600mm. Its boot space is around 260 litres, equivalent to some compact hatchbacks.
