Mahindra is working on new SUVs including the XUV700 and the new-gen Scorpio. The Mahindra XUV700 will replace the existing XUV500 SUV; however, the XUV500 will be re-introduced in a new avatar in 2022. Interestingly, Mahindra is also planning to expand the XUV series by introducing new models.

Mahindra has now trademarked the XUV900, XUV400 and XUV100, along with the XUV700 in April 2021. The new Mahindra XUV900 is expected to be a premium SUV, which will replace the Alturas G4. The existing Alturas G4 is expected to be discontinued in the near future. The XUV900 will rival the likes of the Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour and the MG Gloster.

Mahindra has also trademarked the XUV100, which is expected to be positioned below the XUV300 compact SUV. This could replace the existing KUV100. The Mahindra XUV100 is expected to be positioned against the likes of the Tata HBX, Maruti Suzuki Ignis and the upcoming Hyundai AX1. However, it is quite early to comment whether Mahindra will introduce a micro SUV in the market.

Mahindra has officially announced that it will focus on premium SUVs, and the XUV300 will be the brand’s entry-level offering. The company will introduce the new Bolero Neo, which is basically the re-branded version of the TUV300 compact SUV. Adding to it, the company is readying a new mid-sized SUV that is likely to be called the Mahindra XUV400.

The new mid-sized SUV is expected to be positioned against the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Volkswagen Taigun and the Skoda Kushaq. The Mahindra XUV400 is expected to be powered by a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine, which can produce around 163bhp of power and 280Nm of torque. The diesel version will get the 1.5-litre turbocharged engine that produces 120bhp and 300Nm of torque.
