We informed you earlier that Jeep is readying an all-new 7-seater SUV, which will be called the Jeep Commander. Codenamed Jeep 598, the new 7-seater SUV will arrive in the last quarter of 2021. The global spec model will be offered in two engine options – a 185bhp, 1.3L Turbo Flex and a 203bhp, 2.0L Turbo Diesel.

The new Jeep Commander has been caught testing in Brasil, which reveals the new design details. The front fenders and bonnet looks similar to the Compass 2022; however, the SUV gets new front bumper and slightly redesigned headlight. The seven-slot grille has a honeycomb shape, and is inspired by the Grand Cherokee L. There are auxiliary headlights that are highlighted in the bumper. The lower air intake has small rectangles with rounded corners.

The 7-seater Jeep 598 comes with a glass on the “C” column, which will reduce the claustrophobic effect on the third-row occupant. At the back, the new Commander will have vertically stacked trunk lid. The tail-light design seems identical to the Compass, but has LED inserts. There is a connected bar between the tail-lamps, which are separated by the Jeep logo. The liscening plate is positioned in the trunk lid.

The dashboard of the new Jeep 7-seater SUV will be identical to that of the Compass 2022; however, it will have new color scheme. The SUV will get fully-digital instrument console, while the central console is dominated by a new 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system.

In India, the Jeep Commander will take on the likes of the Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour and the MG Gloster. It will be powered by a 2.0-litre twin-turbocharged diesel engine, which is likely to produce around 200bhp and over 400Nm of torque. It will be paired to a 9-speed automatic transmission.
