Mahindra To Launch 7 New SUVs In 2021-22; New XUV700, Bolero Neo

Mahindra & Mahindra, the homegrown UV maker is gearing up for the launch of the much-awaited XUV700 7-seater SUV, which will be positioned against the Tata Safari and the MG Hector Plus. Not just XUV700, the brand plans to launch at least 7 new SUVs in the next 1 year including 2 new electric SUVs.

2. New Mahindra XUV500 – 2022
3. Mahindra Marazzo Petrol – end of 2021
4. Mahindra XUV300 Sportz – mid-2021
5. Mahindra Bolero Neo/TUV300 Facelift – 2021
6. Mahindra eXUV300 – end of 2021 or early 2022
7. Mahindra KUV100 Electric – mid-2021

2021 Mahindra XUV500 6 7 seater

The new Mahindra XUV700 will be based on the new modular platform. The SUV will also receive an optional all-wheel-drive system. It will be offered with two engine options – a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol and a 2.2-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged diesel. Transmission options could include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic.

The company will temporarily discontinue the XUV500 SUV on the launch of the new XUV700. However, the company is preparing a new XUV500 to rival the Tata Harrier and the MG Hector. It will be a 5-seater model, and will be slotted below the XUV700. This SUV is expected to receive detuned version of the 2.0L petrol and 2.2L diesel engines.

Mahindra Grille TUV300

Mahindra will also launch the petrol version of the Marazzo, which has been caught testing on the Indian roads. It will receive a new 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine that can produce up to 163bhp and 280Nm of torque. The company is also readying the more powerful version of the XUV300 compact SUV, which was first showcased at the 2020 Auto Expo. Called the new Mahindra XUV300 Sportz, the SUV will receive the new 130bhp, 1.2-litre 3-cylinder turbo mStallion petrol engine. The sportier XUV300 variant will be offered with the 6-speed manual and automatic gearbox options. The automatic unit will be sourced from Aisin.

Mahindra is also working on the facelifted version of the TUV300 compact SUV. It is reportedly to be called the Mahindra Bolero Neo, which will be sold alongside the existing Bolero SUV. It will be powered by the same 1.5-litre diesel engine that powers the TUV300. This engine produces 100bhp of power and 240Nm of torque. Transmission options are likely to include a 5-speed manual and an AMT.

Mahindra XUV300 Electric

Mahindra will introduce the electric version of the KUV100 mini SUV in the next 2-3 months. Adding to it, the brand will introduce the eXUV300 electric SUV. This SUV was first showcased at the 2020 Auto Expo. Mahindra XUV300 Electric will have a range of 375km on single charge. The new model will come in two variants with standard variant offering a range of around 200km. The long range variant will have a range of 375km, which is superior to its direct rival Tata Nexon EV. For people not in the know, the Nexon EV is claimed to offer a certified range of 312km on a single charge.
