Mahindra SUVs Crash Test Safety Ratings – XUV300, Thar, Marazzo

Indian buyers are now keeping safety on priority before buying a new car. In order to meet customers’ expectations, car manufacturers are no investing heavily in R&D (Research & Development) to make their cars and SUVs safer. What’s more interesting is that homegrown automakers, Mahindra and Tata Motors are leading the crash test safety ratings from Global NCAP. In this article, we bring you a list of new Mahindra SUVs and cars with their respective safety ratings in Global NCAP crash tests –

Mahindra Thar – 4 Star

The newly launched Mahindra Thar has become India’s safest off-roader, as it secured 4 star rating for both adult and child occupants in Global NCAP’s crash tests. The new Thar scored 12.52 points from 17 in adult safety and 41.11 points from a total of 49 in child safety.

Global NCAP stated that the new Thar offers good protection to driver and passenger’s head and neck during a frontal collision conducted at 64kmph. Driver chest and passenger chest showed adequate and good protection respectively. According to the Global NCAP crash test report, the structure of the new Mahindra thar was found stable; however, the footwell area was rated as unstable, not being capable of withstanding further loadings.

Mahindra XUV300 – 5 Star

The Mahindra XUV300 has become India’s safest car with 5-star crash test safety rating from Global NCAP. The subcompact SUV has secured a 5-star rating for adult occupant protection and a 4-star rating for child occupant protection.

It scored 37.44 points from 49 in child safety and 16.42 points out of 17 points in adult occupant protection. The SUV offers ‘good’ head, neck and knee protection for adult occupant. The Chest protection for the front passenger and the driver are rated as good and adequate respectively. The SUV’s structure and footwell area were stable too.

Mahindra Marazzo – 4 Star

Marazzo Global NCAP

It is the safest multi-purpose vehicle in India according to the Global NCAP. The 7-seater premium MPV achieved a 4-star rating at the Global NCAP crash test. With standard safety features like double airbags, ABS, SBR for driver and ISOFIX anchorages, the Mahindra Marazzo scored 4 stars in Adult Occupant Protection and 2 stars for child occupant protection.

The Marazzo scored 12.85 out of 17 points in the adult safety ratings. In the child occupant safety, it scored 22.22 points out of 49. The Mahindra Marazzo provides good protection for both adult head and neck. The MPV offers decent protection for the driver chest and adequate protection for passenger chest.
