Maruti Suzuki and Toyota joint venture is preparing a new mid-sized SUV, which is reportedly to be launched in 2023. The new model is likely to be based on Toyota’s DNGA (Daihatsu New Generation Architecture) that underpins the new-gen Avanza MPV and the new Raize subcompact SUV.

The new mid-sized SUV will be manufactured at Toyota’s Bidadi plant. The company will use the same production line, which was used to develop the recently discontinued Yaris sedan. Two different looking variants of the SUV will be developed, one each for Toyota and Suzuki. The new model could be powered by a 1.5L NA petrol engine with a stronger hybrid system. It could also get Suzuki’s Boosterjet petrol engine.
