Mahindra Bolero Neo To Be Sold Alongside Existing Bolero Range

It is no secret that Mahindra is testing the TUV300 facelift, which is expected to be launched in the next few months. The TUV300 was first launched in 2015 and was discontinued in 2020 due to BS6 emission norms. Mahindra will launch the updated model with a different name, and is reportedly to be called the Mahindra Bolero Neo.

The company is aiming to cash in on the Bolero’s strong image. The sub-4 meter SUV will be sold alongside the existing Bolero, which has been a huge hit in rural and semi-urban India. The new Mahindra Bolero Neo will look similar to the older TUV300, featuring clam-shell bonnet, squared wheel arches and headlamps.

The new Bolero Neo will come new front fascia with updated grille and re-profiled headlamps. The SUV also gets new colour options, revised alloy wheels and tail-lights. Inside the cabin, the Mahindra Bolero Neo is expected to receive revised dashboard layout. It is most likely to get updated central console with new touchscreen infotainment system, new seat upholstery and instrument console.

The new Bolero Neo will be powered by the same 1.5-litre diesel engine that powers the TUV300; however, the engine will be tuned to meet the new BS6 emission norms. This 3-cylinder engine is capable of producing 100bhp of power and 240Nm of torque. Transmission options are likely to include a 5-speed manual and an AMT.

The new Bolero Neo is expected to be launched in the second quarter of 2021, most probably in April-May. To be sold alongside the Bolero, the upcoming Bolero Neo is likely to cost around Rs 8 to 9 lakh.

The TUV300 is based on the ladder frame chassis, while its competitors are based on the front-wheel-drive monocoque platform. The Bolero Neo will be positioned against the Maruti Vitara Brezza, Ford EcoSport, Mahindra XUV300 and the Tata Nexon.
