Mahindra had showcased its new born-electric SUV range in concept form in UK in August 2022. The company has now showcased these born electric suvs in India on the eve of India’s first ever Formula E race in Hyderabad. The homegrown automaker, Mahindra will use the M9Electro race car in the Formula E Race event. The company has also showcased a unique Mahindra BE Rall-E electric SUV concept in the country.
It is basically the sportier & more rugged version of the BE.05 electric SUV concept, which is also revealed in India. The new Mahindra BE Rall-E Electric SUV is finished in a bright yellow paint scheme with piano black treatment for the ORVMs. The electric SUV has rugged bumpers and chunky wheel arches. The front has a split headlamp setup with LED DRLs on top and circular LED headlights placed on lower bumper. The company has added orange tow hooks in the front as well as the rear.
The Mahindra BE Rall-E Electric SUV comes with a roof rack on which the spare tyre is mounted. The SUV rides on 16-inch steel wheels wrapped in all-terrain tyres. The electric SUV has high ground clearance, which is good enough to tackle off-road terrains. It has coupe-SUV styling and features flush-type door handles. At the back, the electric SUV gets slim LED ligh bar which integrates the tail-lamps.
The production version of the BE.05 electric SUV concept is scheduled to be launched by October 2025. To be positioned above the XUV400, the new Mahindra BE 05 will rival the MG ZS EV and the Hyundai Kona EV. In terms of proportions, the new BE.05 electric SUV is 4,370mm long, 1,900mm wide and 1,635mm tall, and has a wheelbase of 2,775mm. The concept has driver-focussed cabin, featuring a large twin touchscreen with no physical buttons for AC controls and other functions. It also gets a stylish two-spoke steering wheel with multiple controls and BE badge in the centre. Also on offer are a rotary control (Could Be For Drive Modes) and a large gear selector.
The new Mahindra BE 05 and other born electric SUVs are based on the INGLO platform that has been developed with components from Volkswagen Group’s MEB Platform. It is basically an electric skateboard platform, where the four wheels are placed in the corners and the batteries are placed on the flatboard.
