Mahindra had launched the new XUV700 SUV in the Indian market in 2021. The new Mahindra XUV700 has now been launched in South Africa. The Made-in-India SUV is available in 3 variants – AX5, AX7 and AX7L – in a single petrol engine option. The new model is available at a starting price of 4,74,999 South African Rand (Rs 22.48 lakh approximately).
In the Indian market, the new Mahindra XUV700 is available with two engine options – a 2.0L turbocharged petrol and a 2.2L turbo-diesel engine tuned to offer two states of tunes. The South African market only gets the petrol derivative of the SUV, which is powered by a 2.0L turbo engine. This engine is capable of producing 197bhp and 380Nm of torque. It is only offered with a six-speed automatic gearbox and there is no manual gearbox on offer.
The Mahindra XUV700 for South African markets is equipped with several high-end features. The SUV gets a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless connectivity, a digital instrument console, a 360 degree camera, an 18-inch alloy wheels, a wireless phone charging, a panoramic sunroof, etc. The SUV also gets ADAS tech with features like autonomous emergency braking, blind spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, lane assist and others.
The new Mahindra XUV700 has received an overwhelming response from car buyers in India. The top-spec XUV700 has over 80,000 pending orders in the country. It comes with a waiting period of over 1 year. Mahindra aims to produce over 10,000 units of the XUV700 SUV per month from the end of next financial year.
