Mahindra Order Backlog For Scorpio & XUV700 Close To 2.1 Lakh

Mahindra has been receiving an overwhelming response from its new breed of SUVs including the new XUV700, Thar and the Scorpio N. The company is currently producing close to 30,000 SUVs per month, which is not sufficient to meet the rising demand. In order to meet the rising demand, Mahindra has decided to increase its production capacity to 49,000 per month before the end of next financial year. Mahindra has officially stated that it is currently sitting on top of 2.60 lakh open bookings for all the models combined.

Mahindra currently has to deliver 20,000 units of the Thar lifestyle SUV, and 13,000 units of the Bolero range. The company has also revealed that it has received 1.30 lakh bookings for the newly launched Scorpio-N and Scorpio Classic. Moreover, the top-end XUV700 has over 80,000 pending orders in the country.

Mahindra is also preparing multiple new models including the Bolero Neo Plus, XUV400 electric, and Thar 5-door version, which will be launched in 2023. The company has announced to invest Rs 7,900 crores in upgrading its production line. Mahindra is currently producing 5,000 units of the XUV300, 6,000 units of the Scorpio N, 4,000 units of the Thar, and 6,000 units of the XUV700. The company aims to increase production to produce 9,500 XUV300s, 10,000 units of the Scorpio N, 6,000 Thars, and 10,000 units of the XUV700 per month by the fourth quarter of FY23-24.

Mahindra is currently testing the five-door Thar SUV, which is scheduled to be launched sometime in 2023-24. The new model will ride on longer wheelbase and will share the mechanics with the new Scorpio N. The company will launch the new XUV400 electric SUV in the country in January 2023. The carmaker has confirmed that the bookings for the model will begin in the first week of January 2023, followed by its launch by the end of the month. It comes with a 39.5kWh battery pack that offers a combined power and torque output stands at 110kW (148bhp) and 310Nm respectively. It is claimed to offer a MIDC range of 456km on a single charge. It can accelerate 0 to 100kmph in 8.6 seconds and attain a top speed of 150kmph.
