BMW India has launched the powerful BMW M340i xDrive in the Indian market at a price tag of Rs 62.90 lakh (ex-showroom). The new model is locally produced at BMW Group Plant Chennai. It is the first high-performance BMW with an M engine to be made in India.
The BMW M340i xDrive is available in 3 colour options – Dravit Grey, Sunset Orange and Tanzanite Blue. It features the exclusive Alcantara/Sensatec combination upholstery in Black with contrast stitching Blue. Customers have the option of add accessories such as wheel size upgrades or curated accessory packages – Enthusiast Pack, Racer’s Pack and Motorsport Pack.
The first-ever BMW M340i xDrive is powered by a 2,998cc straight-six petrol engine that churns out a maximum power output of 387bhp and a peak torque of 500Nm. The car accelerates to 100kmph from zero in just 4.4 seconds, which makes it the quickest car to be produced in India. Power is transmitted to the wheels via an eight-speed Steptronic Sport automatic gearbox. The car also gets steering wheel paddle shifters and cruise control with braking function as standard. The Driver Experience Control modes SPORT and SPORT+ help support more dynamic driving even further by transferring power to the rear wheels.
The car also features BMW xDrive, all-wheel drive technology. The standard M Sport rear differential enhances traction and cornering by electronically controlling the distribution of power to each individual wheel. The BMW M340i xDrive also gets M Sport suspension which helps lower the ride height by 10mm. It gets Variable Sport Steering and M Sport brakes.
The BMW M340i xDrive comes equipped with 3D navigation, a 12.3-inch digital instrument console and a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system. It supports BMW Gesture Control that recognizes six pre-defined hand movements for control of a number of functions. The system is compatible with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It also gets Harman Kardon Surround Sound system with 16 speakers.
In terms of styling, the BMW M340i xDrive has low-slung and aggressive design. It gets a large BMW kidney grille mesh inserts, adaptive LED headlamps with BMW Laserlight, hexagonal daytime driving light rings and blue, L-shaped elements in the inner and outer light sources, L-shaped LED tail-lights, etc. The car features a body coloured M rear spoiler on the boot lid, exterior mirror caps, air intake struts, trapezoidal tailpipe trims, etc. It gets the standard 18-inch M light alloy wheels style 790 M Bicolor with mixed tyres. The option to upgrade to 19-inch M light alloy wheels in 792 M or 796 M styling is also available.
The BMW M340i xDrive gets sport seats, M leather steering wheel with shift paddles, M seat belt and interior trim strips in Aluminum Tetragon. It gets a large panorama glass sunroof, automatic 3 Zone AC, and welcome light carpet. It offers a boot space of 480-litres, which can be further extended by folding down the 40/20/40 split rear seat backrest.
