Jeep India will launch the new 2021 Wrangler SUV in the country tomorrow. The new model will come as CKD (Completely Knocked Down) unit, and will be assembled at the FCA’s Ranjangaon facility near Pune in Maharashtra. The locally assembled 2021 Jeep Wrangler is expected to be significantly cheaper than the CBU version, which is priced at Rs 68.94 lakh.
Interested buyers can pre-book the new Wrangler online or via authorised Jeep dealerships. The SUV was earlier planned to be introduced on March 15, 2021. In a statement, Jeep India said, “Due to some organisational priorities, the price launch of the locally assembled Jeep Wrangler has been postponed to Wednesday, 11:30 am, 17th March 2021. Sincere apologies for any inconvenience caused. We hope to see you at the rescheduled virtual price unveil.”
The 2021 Jeep Wrangler will be powered by a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine that churns out a maximum power output of 268bhp at 5,250rpm and a peak torque of 400Nm at 3,000rpm. Transmission duties will be taken care by a new 8-speed automatic gearbox. The SUV will come with a new Selec-Trac full-time 4WD drive system that works in tandem with sensors measuring traction slip.
The 2021 Jeep Wrangler will also receive significantly updated cabin, which has new dashboard layour and central console. It will get an 8.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto along with UConnect 4C NAV connected vehicle techonology. The 5-seater model will sport a push-button start, dual-zone climate control, premium leather upholstery, passive keyless entry, etc.
Jeep has recently launched the Compass facelift. The company will introduce two new locally developed products by the end of 2022. The next Jeep SUV in our market will be a 7-seater SUV based on Small Wide Platform, which underpins the Renegade and the Compass. Jeep will also launch a new sub-4 meter SUV, which is rumoured to be based on the Citroen’s CMP platform.
