Kia Motors has recently introduced the 2021 Seltos and Sonet with the brand’s new identity. The new models come with Kia’s new logo, new variants and upgraded features. The new models are hugely popular in our market. A new media report claims that Kia dealers have been advised to communicate customers that the new models will command several weeks waiting period.
The report claims that the 2021 Kia Sonet and Seltos range currently commands a waiting period of as long as 20 weeks. The 2021 Kia Sonet turbo-petrol iMT (intelligent manual transmission) and DCT variants have a waiting period of 11-13 weeks. The Seltos HTK+ 1.5L MT commands a waiting period of 16-17 weeks. All other variants of the Sonet and Seltos command a waiting period of around 17 to 20 weeks.
The increase in waiting period is due to extended lockdowns in various states. The restrictions imposed in states have created logistical challenges across the automotive industry. Kia Motors is hoping to ramp up production by June-July with the start of third shift at the plant.
