The production-ready Kia Sonet is scheduled to make global debut on August 7, 2020. The new model will be the brand’s third car for the Indian market. Ahead of the official debut, the production-spec Kia Sonet has been spied without any camouflage.
The company has already teased the front, which reveals the design highlights of the SOnet. This time, the rear and side profile of the SUV has been snapped. The Kia Sonet gets sloping roofline, roof-integrated spoiler with brake-lights, raked windscreen and blackened C-pillar. The SUV features wrap-around LED tail-lamps.
There is a red strip that connects the two tail-lamps. While Kia badge is placed below the red strip, while the Sonet badging can be seen below the left lamp. The SUV gets dual-tone bumper with silver-finished faux skid plates. The side profile has black plastic cladding and a strong shoulder line that extends to the C-pillar. Front fenders get integrated trafficators. The Kia Sonet features steel wheels, which are covered under silver-finished wheel covers.
Details about the interior of the production-spec Kia Sonet are yet to be revealed. However, the spy image reveals that the SUV will offer rear air-con vents. The SUV has flat rear bench and enough legroom space behind the driver’s seat. In terms of front styling, the production-spec Kia Sonet gets the signature Tiger Nose grille, traditionally-mounted headlamps with LED daytime running lamps. The production-spec model is also expected to receive wider air-dam, fog lamp enclosure and silver skid plate.
The Kia Sonet compact SUV is expected to share the engine options with the Hyundai Venue. It will come with 3 engine options – a 81bhp, 1.2-litre naturally-aspirated petrol, a 99bhp, 1.5-litre diesel and a 118bhp, 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol. Both manual and automatic versions will be on offer. Moreover, the SUV will also receive the new iMT (Intelligent Manual Transmission) gearbox.
The upcoming Kia Sonet will be equipped with several high-end comfort and convenience features like touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, automatic climate control, factory-fitted sunroof, UVO Connect connected car technology, cruise control, etc.
