Kia Sonet Mileage Leaked; Better Than Hyundai Venue

Kia Motors is all set to enter into the sub-4 meter SUV category with the much-anticipated Sonet sub-4 meter SUV. The Kia Sonet is scheduled to be launched in September 2020, as the bookings have already been opened at Rs 25,000. The SUV has received an excellent response from buyers as it recorded over 6,500 bookings in just 24 hours.

We already know about the engine specifications and other details of the Kia Sonet compact SUV. Ahead of the launch, the fuel efficiency figures and acceleration details have been leaked on the web world. The sub-4 meter SUV will be offered with 3 engine options – a 1.2L naturally-aspirated petrol, a 1.0L 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol and a 1.5L turbo-diesel. Also See – Kia Sonet Vs Hyundai Venue

The report claims that the Kia Sonet 1.2 variant will return an ARAI certified fuel economy of 18.4kmpl. Paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox, this engine is capable of producing 82bhp and 113Nm of torque. It is claimed to achieve 0-100kmph in 13.3 seconds. With the same engine-gearbox combination, the Hyundai Venue returns a certified fuel economy of 17.52kmpl.

The Kia Sonet’s 1.0L turbo petrol engine will come with iMT and 7-speed DCT. This engine produces 118bhp and 172Nm of torque. While the iMT version is claimed to offer 18.2kmpl, the 7-speed DCT version delivers 18.3kmpl. The iMT and DCT versions achieve 0-100kmph in 12.3 seconds and 11.3 seconds respectively. The Hyundai Venue DCT version is claimed to deliver an ARAI certified fuel economy of 18.15kmpl.

The Kia Sonet’s 1.5L diesel engine will come with 6-speed manual as well as 6-speed automatic gearbox options. While the 1.5L unit with manual gearbox offers 99bhp and 215Nm of torque, the same engine with automatic transmission produces 113bhp and 245Nm of torque. The Sonet’ diesel manual and automatic  versions claims to offer 24.1kmpl and 19kmpl respectively. The Kia Sonet diesel automatic achieves 0-100kmph in just 11.8 seconds, while the manual version reaches 0 to 100kmph in 12.3 seconds. The Hyundai Venue is only available in diesel manual version, which is claimed to deliver 23.3kmpl.
