Kia Sonet compact SUV recently had its world premiere in India. Slated to launch next month, the model will be put up against Hyundai Venue, Mahindra XUV300, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza and Tata Nexon. Ahead of its official arrival, the carmaker has revealed its design details and key features.
The Sonet will be offered in two trims – Tech Line and GT Line – with multiple engine-gearbox combinations. While the carmaker hasn’t yet revealed engine details of the vehicle, it’s likely to share its powertains with the Hyundai Venue. That said, the engine setup will include a 1.2L petrol, a 1.0L direct-injection turbo petrol and a 1.5L turbo diesel.
The model lineup will be made available with 5 gearbox options – a 5-speed manual, a 6-speed manual, a iMT (Intelligent Manual Transmission), a torque convertor automatic and a dual-clutch automatic. The iMT, which is a clutchless manual unit, was recently introduced on the Venue lineup. Despite sharing its engine and gearboxes with the Venue, the Sonet might offer slightly different fuel efficiency as we have seen in the Seltos. Buyers will have 11 exterior colour options (3 dual-tone and 7 monotone) to choose from including Beige Gold, Beige Gold with Black roof, Intense Red, Intense Red with Black Roof, Glacier White Pearl, Glacier White with Black roof, Gravity Grey, Steel Silver, Aurora Black Pearl, Punchy Orange and Intelligency Blue. The paint choices will vary variant-wise.
On the feature front, the Kia Sonet will offer the segment’s largest 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system along with in-built navigation, 7-speaker Bose sound system, controls for the sound mood lights, Kia’s UVO connectivity suite, perfumed air purifier, automatic climate control, cooled wireless phone charging, ventilated front seats for both driver and front passenger, a sunroof, a tyre pressure monitor, front and rear parking sensors, hill assist control, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, 6 airbags, vehicle stability management, brake assist and more.
