Kia India will launch its first electric car in India on 2nd June 2022. Called the Kia EV6, the model will come via CBU (completely built-up) route and take on the upcoming Hyundai Ioniq 5 electric crossover. Official bookings for the EV6 will start from 26th May 2022. As per the leaked brochure scans the new Kia electric car will be made available in GT-Line trim equipped with a 77.4kWh lithium-ion battery pack. It will promise an electric range of 528km (WLTP cycle) on a single charge.
Interestingly, the new Kia electric car will support ultra-fast charging via which its battery pack can be juiced up in less than 4.5 minutes. There will also options for 350kW and 50kWH fast chargers enabling its battery to charge 10-18% in 18 minutes and 73 minutes respectively. Buyers will get two motor setups to choose from including a single motor with RWD and a dual motor with AWD system. The former will deliver a peak power of 225bhp against 350Nm, the latter will be good enough for 321bhp. The Kia EV6 is capable to achieve 100kmph in 3.5 seconds.
The overall length, width and height of the electric crossover stand at 4695mm, 1890mm and 1550mm respectively. There will be five exterior colour options to choose from – Runway Red, Snow White Pearl, Monoscape, Yacht Blue and Aurora Black Pearl. The new Kia electric car will be offered with Black interior theme with Black suede with vegan leather blosters.
The Kia EV6 GT-Line AWD trim will be made available with an augmented reality heads-up display, 14-speakers Meridian audio system, powered tailgate and automatic flush fitting door handles. With respect to safety, the new Kia electric car will offer 8 airbags, electronic stability control, brake assist, anti-lock braking system, hill assent control, vehicle stability management and all disc brakes. It will also come with ADAS (advanced driver assistance system) suite.
