Kia Clavis SUV Launch In 2024 – Boxier Design, Petrol, EV

We reported earlier that Kia will launch an all-new compact SUV, internally codenamed as Kia AY, which is scheduled to be launched sometime in 2024-25. The new model will be a high-riding vehicle and will be a sub-4 meter SUV. Rumoured to be called the Kia Clavis, the new sub-4 meter SUV will be positioned against the Maruti Brezza and the Mahindra XUV300.

A new report claims that the made-for-India Kia Clavis compact SUV will make a global debut before the end of 2024. The new sub-4 meter SUV will come with multiple powertrain options, including electric. The compact SUV with internal combustion engine is expected to be launched before the EV. Kia is also considering hybrid powertrains for the Indian market. Kia could add its hybrid tech to its 1.2L & 1.5L naturally-aspirated petrol engines.

The Kia Clavis will be based on the internal combustion platform, which will also be modified for the EV version. It is reported that the company aims to produce close to 1 lakh units of the sub-4 meter SUV annually. The ICE version will account to around 80 per cent of the total volume, while the EVs will account for the remaining 20%. The small SUV will also be exported to select international markets.

The compact SUV will be positioned between the Sonet and Seltos in Kia’s India line-up. The new model will be marketed as a lifestyle vehicle, which will have a tougher SUV-like presence and a boxier design. However, the SUV will continue to be the front-wheel-drive model and won’t be offered with any 4WD tech.

Not just Clavis, the Korean automaker will also launch the long-awaited new-gen Carnival MPV in the Indian market in 2024. Adding to it, the company will launch its second born-electric SUV, the Kia EV9 in 2024.
