After releasing the exterior images, Kia Motors has now released the interior pictures and details of the next-gen Kia Carnival 2021 MPV. The company claims that the interior design concept is called ‘Spatial Talents’. It is claimed to offer spacious, comfortable and futuristic environment for young families.
The interior of the fourth-generation Kia Carnival MPV is completely different from the outgoing model. It comes with dual-tone beige and brown interior scheme with more upmarket look and feel. The MPV gets all-new dashboard, which is dominated by two 12.3-inch screens for the touchscreen infotainment system and instrument console. The two screens are enclosed in a single frame, which looks premium.
Infotainment functions can be controlled using touch-sensitive buttons around the screen. A similar panel placed down the center console for the climate control system. There is a shift-by-wire dial for the transmission at the base of the center console. The Kia Carnival 2021 rides on longer wheelbase, and has longer rear overhang and a wider body, which results into more interior space for passengers in all rows. The Kia Carnival 2021 will come with 3 or 4-row seating configurations, with space for 7, 9 or 11 occupants in total. The 7-seater version gets Kia’s reclining ‘captain’s chairs’ for second-row occupants, with adjustable backrests, armrests and legrests providing ‘business class’ seating for comfort on long journeys.
The fourth-generation Kia Carnival 2021 comes with several practical storage options for occupants, with a range of new features for stowing, supporting and even charging electronic devices and smaller items. Second-row occupants have access to back-of-seat USB chargers, storage nets for mobile devices, and a new storage drawer in the base of the rear console, with a tray for storing tablets or phones above a larger storage area.
The new Carnival rides on 30mm longer wheelbase (3,090mm) and has 10mm wider body (1,995mm). The length of the MPV has been increased by 40mm to 5,155mm, while the rear overhang has been raised by 30mm to 1,130mm.
It is expected that the next-gen Kia Carnival 2021 will come with the upgraded version of the existing 200bhp, 2.2-litre turbocharged diesel engine. The petrol version could receive a new 277bhp, 2.5L turbocharged petrol engine. The new-gen Kia Carnival is designed and developed on the new generation N3 platform, which also underpins the new Sorento SUV.
The new Carnival comes with shorter front overhang as the base of the A-pillar moved backwards. The side profile looks way more attractive and sportier than the outgoing model. The fourth-generation Kia Carnival 2021 gets bolder wheel arches and sharp lines along the body, which gives it a sportier SUV-like styling. It features blacked-out A- and B-pillars and the body-coloured roof. The MPV also gets stylish C-pillar signature design, which is inspired by the new Sorento. Upfront is a ‘Tiger-Nose’ grille at the front, newly styled headlamps and LED DRLs, sculpted bumper with wider air intake, new fog lamp enclosure and metallic trim. At the back, the new model gets sleeker lamps and a chrome line above the light bar. The SUV-inspired design is also visible on the lower bumper, which has metallic lower skid plate.
