Official bookings for the all-new Kia Carens 6/7-seater utility vehicle have been commenced across the nation. The automaker has confirmed that the vehicle will go on sale before the end of this fiscal year. That means, it will be launched in February or March 2022. The model will face challenge from multiple cars such as Maruti Suzuki XL6 and Hyundai Alcazar.
The new Kia MPV can be had with either 6-seat layout or 7-seat configuration. Kia says that the Carens will offer best-in-class wheelbase measuring 2780mm. Its overall length, width and height stand at 4540mm, 1800mm and 1700mm respectively.
Talking about its engines, Kia Carens will come with multiple engine-gearbox combinations. There will be a 1.5L, 4-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol and 1.4L, 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol engines making 115bhp with 144Nm and 140bhp with 242Nm respectively. While the naturally aspirated petrol unit will be paired to a 6-speed manual and a CVT automatic gearbox, the turbo petrol motor will come with 6-speed iMT and 7-speed DCT automatic transmission options. The oil burner will be offered with the 6-speed manual and automatic gearbox options.
Claimed to be one of the safest car in India, the Kia Carens offers tyre pressure monitoring system, 6 airbags, hill start assist, anti-lock braking system, electronic stability control, rear parking sensors and all four disc brakes as standard fitments. A 10.25-inch infotainment system with the latest smartphone connectivity is reserved for the range-topping trims, while the lower variants get an 8.0-inch display.
Some of its key features include an 8-speaker Bose sound system, a fully digital instrument cluster, an air purifier, a multi-function steering wheel with mounted controls, Kia’s UVO connect, ventilated front seats, 64 colour ambient lighting, seat-back tables with cup holders and one touch tumble down feature for the middle row (first-in-segment).
