The much-awaited Kia Carens 3-row MPV has finally made its official debut in India. Scheduled to be launched in first quarter of 2022, the new Carens will be offered in 6-and 7-seat configurations with former having captain seats in second row. Interested buyers can pre-book the MPV online or at Kia authorised dealerships.

The new Carens 3-row model rides on 2,780mm wheelbase, which is 20mm more than that of the Alcazar. It measures 4,540mm in length, 1,800mm in width and 1,700mm in height, and has a ground clearance of 195mm. Interestingly, the Kia Carens wheelbase is 30mm more than the Toyota Innova.

The company said that the vehicle will target family buyers looking for a feature-loaded and spacious 3-row vehicle with SUV-like design elements. The new model also debuts the brand’s new ‘Opposite United’ design philosophy. It features a distinctive Tiger grille, new slim wrap-around LED headlamps with twin set-up, LED DRLs, sporty bumper and a flat bonnet design. It gets new LED tail-lights with a connected light bar.
The Kia Carens MPV will be equipped with several segment-leading features such as a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with connectivity features, leather seat upholstery, 6 USB-C ports, an electric sunroof, roof-mounted AC vents for second row and third row, etc. The base variant will have an 8-inch touchscreen unit.
The vehicle will get wireless charging support, an 8-speaker Bose sound system, front and rear parking sensors, ventilated front seats, ambient lighting, air purifier, UVO connected car tech, digital instrument console and others. There is one touch tumble down feature for the second row, which is first-in-segment.
For safety and security, the new Carens will get 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, Vehicle Stability Management (VSM), Electronic Stability Control (ESC), tyre pressure monitoring system, all wheel disc brakes, hill start assist and downhill brake control.
Engine Options – the new Kia Carens 3-row MPV will share the engine options with the Seltos. It will be offered with 3 engine options – 1.5L petrol (115bhp/144Nm), 1.4L turbo petrol (140bhp/242Nm) and 1.5L diesel (115bhp/250Nm). Both manual and automatic gearbox options will be on offer.
