The South Korean automaker is ready to roll out its fourth product in India early next year. Called the Kia Carens, the model will make its global debut on December 16, 2021. Touted as a “Recreational Vehicle”, the Carens will be based on the Seltos SUV and offered with 6 and 7-seats configurations. While its 6-seater version will have captain seats for the middle row occupants, the 7-seater model will offer a bench-type seat on the second row. The automaker has already dropped its official sketches revealing exterior design details and interior layout of the vehicle.
While its official details are yet to be revealed by the carmaker, the upcoming Kia 6/7-seater family car is rumoured to be offered with ADAS (advanced driver assistance system). The higher trims could be exclusively made available with a 360 degree camera and wireless smartphone charging. The entry-level and mid-spec variants will be equipped with an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, while the range-topping variant will have bigger 10.25-inch unit with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity.
All variants of the new Kia Carens might get a digital instrument console as standard fitment. Features such as a single pane sunroof, leather seat upholstery, leather-wrapped flat-bottom steering, automatic climate control and 6 USB-C ports (two each in front, middle and third rows) could be reserved for the higher variants.
Reports suggest that the new Kia three-row vehicle will be the first model in its segment to offer access to the third row seats through an electronic button. It could also be equipped with the ventilated front seats, Bose audio system and ambient lighting colours.
Engine setup of the Kia Carens will include a 140bhp, 1.4L turbo petrol and 115bhp, 1.5L petrol unit borrowed from the Seltos SUV. It can be had with either manual or automatic gearbox.
