Kia Aims High Sales Target With 2 New Launches – Seltos X-Line, MPV

Kia India aims to achieve 2 lakh sales mark in the domestic market and export around 50,000 units to several global markets during the current fiscal year. The company also plans to hit the cumulative sales milestone of 4 lakh units by the end of this financial year or early 2022. At present, the South Korean carmaker sells three products in India – Seltos mid-size SUV, Sonet subcompact SUV and Carnival premium MPV. Kia will soon expand its product portfolio with the Kia Seltos X-Line and a new compact MPV.

The Kia Seltos X-Line is ready to hit showrooms sometime next month (September 2021). It’s essentially the pumped-up version of the standard model featuring several cosmetic enhancements. As per the leaked information, the Seltos X-Line has 14 new features to offer along with a new Matte Graphite paint scheme. On the exterior, it gets a matte graphite radiator grille with piano black outline, front bumper with gloss black trim, piano black front skid plate with Sun Orange accents and Icecube LED fog lamps with piano black accent.

Unlike the regular model that comes with 16 and 17-inch alloys, the new sportier variant gets 18-inch crystal-cut matte graphite alloy wheels. The Kia Seltos X-Line will be based on the GT Line trim and come with the 1.4L GDI turbo petrol (138bhp/ 242Nm) and 1.5L CRDi diesel (114bhp/250Nm) engine options.

While the carmaker hasn’t revealed the name and launch timeline of its fourth upcoming product, it will be a compact 7-seater MPV that’s reported to arrive in early 2022. Codenamed Kia KY, the new 7-seater MPV might share its platform with the Hyundai Alcazar. In terms of pricing, the new Kia MPV will take on the higher variants of the Maruti Ertiga and XL6 and entry-level variants of the Toyota Innova Crysta. It will measure around 4.5 meters in length and is likely to come with 6 and 7-seats configurations.
