Jeep To Launch New Compass Trailhawk In February; Meridian By Mid-2022

Despite pandemic, Jeep India had posted an impressive 130 per cent sales growth in 2021. The company is positive about the outlook for the domestic automobile industry. In order to further accelerate sales, Jeep will launch two new products in the country in 2022.

Jeep had launched the Compass facelift and the locally assembled Wrangler last year. The company sold 12,136 units last yer compared to 5,282 units in 2020. Jeep is producing the Compass SUV at the Ranjangaon facility since June 2017, while the local assembling of the Wrangler was started in mid-March 2021.

Jeep India will launch the new Compass Trailhawk in February 2022. The SUV has been spotted multiple times during its test rounds. It will come with design changes, which is evident from the undisguised spy images. The new Compass Trailhawk will have new LED headlamps, and new front and rear bumpers with better approach and departure angle. It will come with a new set of diamond-cut alloy wheels along with 4×4 and trailhawk badging. It will get new body decals, blacked-out pillars and red window beltline for sporty looks. The SUV will also receive dual-tone black and red colour scheme.

The cabin of the Trailhawk will be similar to the regular model. It will get a larger 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with UConnect 5 software supporting Apple CarPlay and Android Auto along with voice recognition. Other features will include a sportier steering wheel, connected car tech, a 360 degree camera, ventilated seats, etc.

The SUV will be powered by the same 2.0-litre Multijet diesel engine paired to a 9-speed automatic gearbox. This engine produces 170bhp and 350Nm of torque. It will come with an Activ Drive 4×4 system, Rock mode and hill descent control.

Jeep Meridian 7-seater India Launch

American SUV maker, Jeep will launch the 7-seater version of the Compass SUV in 2022. Likely to be called the Meridian, the new SUV will be based on the Jeep Commander that is on sale in Brazil. The new Meridian will rival the likes of the Toyota Fortuner and the Skoda Kodiaq. The new 3-row SUV production will commence at FCA’s Ranjangaon facility by April 2022. The production plant will also serve as the base for exporting the Jeep Meridian SUV to other RHD (Right-Hand-Drive) markets across the globe. The upcoming Jeep Meridian will be powered by a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine that also powers the Compass. This engine is capable of producing 173bhp and 200Nm of torque. It is also likely to get a 48V mild hybrid system, which should improve its efficiency. A 9-speed automatic gearbox will come as standard.
