Citroen C3 Ready For Launch In India; To Rival Tata Punch

The long-awaited Citroen C3 will be launched in the country in the next few months. The sub-4 meter hatchback with crossover looks has been spotted testing multiple times, and the latest spy images show the small car in near production form. It is expected that the production of the C3 has already been commenced.

The spotted model looks largely identical to the global model that debuted in August 2021. However, the India-spec model comes with subtle design changes. The spotted model has chrome elements around the turn signal on the front bumper, and on the tailgate.

On first glance, the made-in-India Citroen C3 appears to be identical to the model that made its global debut last September. However, a closer look reveals that there are some differences. The spotted model had steel wheels with wheel covers, and it also misses out on the plastic cladding on the lower doors. This could be the mid-level variant, and the rest of the model looks identical to the original car.

The Citroen C3 measures 3.98 meters in length and has a ground clearance of 180mm. The vehicle comes with cross-hatchback profile with raised ground clearance and a high bonnet. The vehicle shares styling cues from the bigger Citroen cars including the C4 and the C5. The front fascia has split headlamps, a double-slat grille and aggressive bumper.

The side profile has black plastic cladding around the wheel arches, blacked-out pillars and roof-rails. The Citroen C3 rear profile looks sporty with an upright tailgate with rectangular tail-lights and a dual-tone bumper that has faux skid plate.

The cabin of the Citroen C3 is likely to be slightly different from the global-spec model. It will have stylish dashboard with textured surfaces and different colour theme. The small crossover-hatch will come with a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support. It will get a smartphone holder beside the screen. The small car gets a 3-spoke multi-functional steering wheel, a digital instrument console, manual AC and seats with integrated headrests.

It is based on the heavily localised CMP (Common Modular Platform), which will also underpin the future Citroen cars in the country. The platform will also be used to develop Jeep’s upcoming sub-4 meter SUV. The company is claimed to have acieved over 90 percent of localisation levels. The new Citroen C3 is likely to be offered with two petrol engines – a 1.2-litre naturally-aspirated and a 1.2-litre turbocharged. Transmission choices will include a 5-speed manual and a 7-speed DCT.
