Hyundai To Launch 4 New SUVs In India – Creta 7-Seater

Buoyed by excellent response for new Creta and Venue, Hyundai is now planning to launch a new range of SUVs in the country. The company is likely to introduce 4 new SUVs, staring from a micro SUV to a full-size 7-seater SUV, in the country in the next couple of years. Here is a list of upcoming new 4 Hyundai SUVs to be launched in the Indian market –

Hyundai Alcazar

It is basically the 7-seater version of the Creta mid-sized SUV. Rumoured to be called the Hyundai Alcazar, the SUV has been caught testing in Korea. Hyundai will increase the wheelbase and length of the SUV by 20mm and 30mm respectively. The increase in dimensions will help the brand to create more space inside the cabin to accommodate third row of seats.

The longer version of the SUV will directly rival the likes of the MG Hector Plus, Tata Gravitas and the Mahindra Scorpio. The upcoming Alcazar is likely to be offered with 2 engine options – a 138bhp, 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol and a 113bhp, 1.5-litre turbocharged diesel. Both manual and automatic gearbox options will be offer.

Hyundai AX Micro SUV

The company has started testing an all-new sub-4 meter SUV, codenamed AX in Korea. The new model will sit below the Venue in the brand’s global line-up and will also receive an electric derivative. The Hyundai AX is likely to be based on the Santro’s platform. It will directly rival the Maruti Suzuki S-Presso and the Tata HBX.

The micro SUV is likely to be powered by the 1.1-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine that churns out 67bhp of power and 100Nm of peak torque. Transmission choices might include 5-speed manual and an AMT gearbox option.

Hyundai has already released the new-generation Tucson SUV in select international markets. The new model is expected to arrive in our market in late 2021 or early 2022. The 2021 Hyundai Tucson comes with bold exterior design featuring Hyundai’s new design language – “Sensuous Sportiness.” The new model comes with all-new design, feature-loaded cabin and new engine options. The front DRLs are integrated into the uniquely designed front grille. These DRLs are unnoticeable among the dark chrome features when the car is off. While driving, the edges of the geometrically designed grille light up in 5 different, jewel-like triangles of light on each side. 

The new Tucson features a dual-screen infotainment system that has a 10.3-inch display for climate control and other functions. The infotainment system is compatible with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and two-device Bluetooth connectivity. There are no physical buttons on offer on the dashboard, except for the engine start/stop. The 2021 Hyundai Tucson is equipped with a 2.5-litre inline 4-cylinder petrol engine that churns out a maximum power output of 190bhp and a peak torque 260Nm. Power is transmitted to the front wheels via an 8-speed automatic gearbox. The India-spec model is likely to receive the 2.0L turbocharged diesel engine producing 182bhp and 400Nm.

Hyundai Palisade

Hyundai Palisade SUV 8-seater

The Korean automaker is exploring the Palisade full-size SUV for the Indian market. The SUV is currently available in left-hand-drive version only; however, Hyundai has started working on the right-hand-drive version of the SUV as well. Dimensionally, the Hyundai Palisade is 4,980mm long, 1,975mm wide and 1,750mm tall, and has a wheelbase of 2,900mm. The Palisade is available as 7- and 8-seater SUV, which will rival the MG Gloster.

The Hyundai Palisade is powered by a 3.8-litre V6 direct injection petrol engine that is capable of producing 291bhp of power and 355Nm of torque. The India-spec model could receive the 2.2-litre turbocharged diesel engine that is good for 200bhp and 441Nm of torque.
