Hyundai, Tata Power Join Hands To Set Up EV Charging Network In India

Hyundai Motor India has announced its partnership with Tata Power to build a robust EV charging network and boost EV adoption in India at its dealerships. Through this association, Hyundai Motor India Ltd. will become a key contributor in expansion of quality charging infrastructure and enhance the general outlook on sustainable transportation, reaffirming Hyundai’s vision to integrate social responsibility with economic prosperity and community wellness.

The automaker says that “Such strategic partnerships are fundamental in accelerating the adoption of Electric Vehicles by customers to achieve national goal of carbon neutrality. This partnership will power-up the nations’ electric mobility mission by offering end-to-end EV charging infrastructure at HMIL Dealerships along with supply, installation and commissioning of home charging for HMIL EV customers, thereby, enhancing customer convenience and ease of adoption of electric vehicles”.

Talking about Hyundai’s EV future plan, the company will introduce the updated Kona EV and Ioniq 5 electric crossover this year. The Hyundai Ioniq 5 will be the company’s flagship EV that will take on the upcoming Kia EV6. The model underpins Hyundai’s Skateboard platform called E-GMP (Electric Global Modular Platform. Interestingly, it’s the company’s first ground-up EV built around the battery and electric motors.

In global market, the Hyundai Ioniq 5 is available with two powertrain options – a single-motor layout for lower variant and a dual-motor configuration for higher trim. The former makes power worth 169bhp and 350Nm of torque and comes with RWD system, while the latter is good for 325bhp and 605Nm. There are two battery pack options – a 77.4kWh offering a range of 502km (WLTP cycle) and a 58kWh delivering 385km when fully charged.

The electric crossover has been benefited with 800V battery technology that supports ultra-fast charging. Its battery pack can be charged from 10 percent to 80 percent in 18 minutes via a 220kWh DC charger.
