Jeep Meridian Launch Date 19th May – Price Expectations

Prices of the new Jeep Meridian three-row SUV will be announced on 19th May, 2022. In the company’s India product lineup, the new 7-seater SUV will be positioned above the Compass. Here, it will take on the petrol-only Skoda Kodiaq and diesel-only Toyota Fortuner and MG Gloster. Jeep’s Ranjangaon plant near Pune will serve as production hub for the RHD (right-hand drive) Meridian. The same facility is used for production of the export model.

While its prices will be announced in a couple of days, it’s estimated to be priced between Rs 29 lakh – Rs 35 lakh (ex-showroom). The carmaker claims that it has achieved 82 percent localization with its new 7-seater SUV. Initially, it will be offered with 7-seats configuration only. The model will have a bench seat for the middle row and offer one-touch tumble down function for accessing the third row seats. The company will introduce its 6-seater version at a later stage.

Under the hood, the new Jeep Meridian 7-seater SUV employs a 2.0-litre diesel engine sourced from the Compass. The motor pushes out a peak power of 170bhp and 350Nm of torque. It comes with a 6-speed manual gearbox with FWD (front-wheel drive) system and a 9-speed torque convertor automatic transmission with FWD and AWD (all-wheel drive) options. Interior of the new Meridian SUV shares a great resemblance to the Compass. It comes with a host of features including a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 360 degree parking camera, multi zone automatic climate control, a panoramic sunroof, wireless charging, powered front seats, leather upholstery with a perforated and quilted pattern, 9 speaker audio system by Alpine, traction control, hill start and descent control, selectable drive modes, 6 airbags and more.

Dimensionally, the Jeep Meridian is significantly bigger than the Compass. It’s 364mm longer, 41mm wider, 48mm taller and has a 146mm longer wheelbase than its younger sibling. The 7-seater SUV measures 4769mm in length, 1859mm in width and 1698mm in height with a wheelbase of 2782mm. It offers a boot space of 233-1760-litres.
