Hyundai Stargazer MPV – 4 Star ASEAN NCAP Crash Test Video

Hyundai’s latest 3-row MPV, the Stargazer has scored 4 star crash test rating in the ASEAN NCAP. The MPV was the latest Hyundai model that underwent the new ASEAN NCAP 2021-2025 assessment protocol. The new Creta was also crash tested and scored an impressive 5 star rating in the ASEAN NCAP.

The Hyundai Stargazer MPV has received a total score of 66.48 points in the crash test. It scored 31.21 points out of 40 points for the adult occupant protection, 14.48 points for child occupant protection, 12.04 points for safety assist and 8.75 points out of a total of 20 points for motorcyclist safety category. As standard, the 7-seater MPV gets 2 airbags, ABS, SBR for both front occupants, ISOFIX installation for child seats in rear compartment and Pedestrian Protection technology.

The Thailand-spec model comes with electronic stability control (ESC) as a standard fitment. Features like forward collision warning (FCW), lane departure warning (LDW) and lane keep assist (LKA) are offered either as standard or optional fitment in variants sold in other countries. The MPV also gets ADAS tech with features like autonomous emergency braking, auto high beam and blind spot detection as optional.

The Kia Carens MPV is also expected to be launched in our market sometime in 2023. It is based on the Venue’s platform that also underpin the Kia Carens on sale in our market. It measures 4,460mm in length, 1,780mm in width and 1,695mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,780mm. It is claimed to offer a boot space of 200-litres, which can be further extended to 585-litres by folding the third-row seat. It is powered by a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol that produces 115PS and 144Nm of torque. Transmission options will include a 6-speed manual and an IVT (Intelligent Variable Transmission).
