Hyundai Stargazer 7-Seater MPV Spied Testing Again

It is no secret that Hyundai is preparing a new 3-row MPV, which has already been caught testing Korea. Reportedly to be called the Hyundai Stargazer, the new 7-seater MPV is rumoured to be launched in our market in 2022. However, Hyundai is yet to make an official announcement on the same.

The new Hyundai Stargazer 7-seater MPV has recently been caught testing in Indonesia. The spotted model was fully covered with camouflage stickers. It comes with a sloping and a wide windshield, while the machined-cut alloy wheels look nice. The vehicle is likely to be offered with two seating options – 6-seats and 7-seats.

Internally called the Hyundai KS, the new MPV is likely to be based on the modified version of Creta’s platform. This platform also underpins the Alcazar 3-row SUV. It is expected that the new Hyundai Stargazer could measure around 4.5 meters in length, which is in-line with the Mahindra Marazzo.

In Indonesia, the new model will be positioned against the Toyota Rush, Daihatsu Xenia, Mitsubishi XPander and the Suzuki XL7. In terms of size, the new model sits between the Suzuki Ertiga and the Toyota Innova Crysta.

Few reports claim that the new model will be produced at Hyundai’s new production facility in Indonesia. The new MPV is likely to share styling cues from bigger Hyundai models including the recently introduced Custo MPV in China. In India, the new MPV could be launched in the second half of 2022. The new model is likely to share the engine options with the Creta.

The petrol version will get the 1.5-litre 4-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol that produces 113bhp and 145Nm of torque. The diesel version will get the 1.5-litre turbocharged unit that churns out 113bhp of power and 250Nm of torque. Both manual and automatic gearbox options will be on offer. The vehicle could also get a bigger capacity engine, and it is likely to be the 159PS, 2.0L petrol engine that powers the Alcazar.
