Hyundai Exter Will Be As Big As Tata Punch? Spy Images

Hyundai Exter will be the next big product launch from the South Korean automaker in India. It’s a micro SUV based on the Grand i10 Nios’ platform to challenge the Tata Punch. The latest spy images show its front and rear sections along with the road presence. It’s expected to be as big as its arch rival – Punch. The latter one measures 3827mm in length, 1742mm in width and 1615mm in height with a wheelbase of 2445mm. Though, there are rumours that the mini SUV could be smaller than the Caper that’s 3595mm long, 1595mm wide and 1575mm-1605mm tall. If it happens, the Exter will become the smallest SUV from Hyundai in the country.

Upfront, the new Hyundai micro SUV carries the signature grille in black finish, new ‘H’ shaped LED DRLs and headlamps with split setup. It has squarish wheel arches with thick cladding and dual-tone 15-inch alloy wheels. Design bits such as a shark fin antenna, roof rails, A,B and C pillars with black matte finish cladding and ‘H’ shaped LED taillamps add more to its looks. The company says that the Exter will solve “outdoor, travel and urban lifestyles” driving purposes.

Inside, the Hyundai Exter might share resemblance with the Grand i10 Nios hatchback. The model could be packed with a touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, a multi function steering wheel, keyless entry, automatic climate control, ventilated front seats, an electric sunroof, cruise control and 6 airbags.

As of now, there is no official word on its engine options. The Hyundai Exter is expected to come with a 1.2L, 4-cylinder petrol and a 1.0L turbo petrol engine. The micro SUV could also be offered with CNG fuel option. It’s likely to have multiple drive modes.

Price of Hyundai’s new Exter mini SUV might fall within the range of Rs 6 lakh – Rs 12 lakh (ex-showroom). It’s likely to go on sale in August 2023.
