Hyundai Exter In Demand – Nearly 1 Lakh Bookings In 5 Months

In a span of just five months since its debut in the micro SUV segment, Hyundai Motor India has made a significant impact with the Exter. This compact SUV, positioned as the smallest and most budget-friendly offering from the South Korean automaker, has garnered substantial attention with bookings approaching the one lakh mark and impressive sales figures totaling 31,174 units. The Exter, priced starting from Rs 6 lakh, has swiftly become a sought-after choice among Indian consumers.

During its inaugural month, the micro SUV achieved notable sales of 7,000 units, setting the tone for subsequent success with 7,430 units in August, 8,647 units in September, and 8,097 units in October 2023. The Exter lineup includes diverse trims such as EX, S, SX, SX (O), and SX (O) Connect, spanning a price range of Rs 6 lakh to Rs 10 lakh. Manual variants fall within the price spectrum of Rs 6 lakh to Rs 9.32 lakh, while the AMT variants are priced between Rs 7.97 lakh and Rs 10 lakh. For those inclined towards CNG options, the S and SX variants are available at Rs 8.24 lakh and Rs 8.97 lakh, respectively. All prices mentioned are ex-showroom.

Powering the Hyundai Exter is a 1.2-litre, four-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol engine that delivers a robust 83bhp and a peak torque of 114Nm. This engine, familiar from the Venue subcompact SUV, Grand i10 Nios, and i20 hatchbacks, offers versatility with a choice between a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT transmission. The CNG version of the micro SUV boasts a claimed power output of 69bhp and 95.2Nm of torque, exclusively available with the manual gearbox. Except for the entry-level E trim, all petrol variants of the Exter offer both manual and AMT gearboxes. The mid-spec S and SX trims come equipped with a factory-fitted CNG kit. The three SX trims featuring the AMT gearbox also include paddle shifters. Hyundai prides itself on the Exter’s fuel efficiency, claiming 19.4kpl for the manual version and 19.2kpl for the AMT version. The factory-fitted CNG variants impress with a high mileage of 27.10km/kg.
